Ruhr IOT small watershed disaster emergency management system establishes a high-precision flash flood warning system by integrating IOT technology with flood forecasting and risk analysis model. It calculate mountain torrent risk from multiple perspectives, including real-time rainfall monitoring, short-term rainfall forecast, custom rainfall process, to provide precise dynamic analysis, that guides efficient emergency response.

Demand Analysis
  • Small Watershed Flash Flood Risk
    Small watershed is mountainous catchment with short source and rapid flow, which is prone to flash flood disaster in case of heavy rainfall, flood surge and fall in typhoon season and plum flood season.
  • Insufficient Sensors
    Many small watersheds lack monitoring facilities. The few small watersheds that do have monitoring systems,such as water and rainfall sensors, face issues like serious aging, low degree of automation, etc.
  • Lack Capability of Advanced Waining
    Small watersheds disasters are sudden. heavy rainfall in short-time can quickly trigger flash flood, riverbanks of constricted section and most weirs and dams are eroded and destroyed immediately. Relying solely on sensing can’t detect risk in a timely manner.

  • Omnidirectional Perception
    Carry out the construction of monitoring facilities and related early warning facilities for water and rain conditions and hidden geological disaster points in small watersheds, and carry out real-time monitoring of rainfall, river water level, soil wall conditions, hidden geological hazards, etc.
  • Professional Flash Flood Simulation
    The density of rain gauges are more than one per 10 km² to accurately represent the rainfall conditions within a small watershed. Based on the measured rainfall data, the system uses flood forecasting and risk analysis models to automatically calculate and issue refined flash flood forecasts at a frequency of 5/10 minutes.
  • "Minute-level" Rainfall Forecast
    Driven by 2-hour short-term and minute-level high-precision rainfall forecasts, the system automatically conducts flash flood forecast and warning at a frequency of 5/10 minutes, further improving the timeliness of warnings.
  • Omnidirectional Disaster Process Simulation
    Based on the latest measured rainfall and short-term rainfall data, combined with real-time monitoring data of river water levels and flow rates, the simulation results are updated continuously at a high frequency.
